Guided By Voices Bee Thousand on LP + Download Card20th Anniversary Reissue Newly Remastered by John GoldenLittle introduction should be required here. Let it suffice to say that Guided By Voices 1994 breakthrough Bee Thousand is arguably the best, or at least among the top GBV albums in a copious discography. Accordingly, the album has stacked up many accolades over the years from tastemakers far and wide. This new LP pressing, the first since the late 90s, honors the albums 20th anniversaryand features new (and definitely improved) mastering from John Golden. Issued onhigh-quality virgin vinyl courtesy of RTI, the reissue comes complete with a substantial gatefold jacket boasting a previously unpublished Robert Pollard collage and a free download card.Guided By Voices made many albums before Bee Thousand, and they would go on to make many, many more. They passed through several lineups and even took a crack at professional recording at one point, and eventually their prolific output became more overwhelming than anything else, much more than any casual fan could juggle. And although every GBV record contains a few absolute knockouts, theyve rarely been so consistently awesome as they were on Bee Thousand. From the swaggering groove of Hot Freaks to the chiming pogo-pop of Echos Myron to the barren-hearted balladry of Peep-Hole, this album is a master class in glorious absurdity. Whether its your gateway into a new obsession or the only Guided By Voices record on your shelf, it deserves a place in your life.
